How To Join

One of Freemasonry's strictest customs is not to solicit members. All initiates into our ranks must come forward of their own free will and accord. You should feel free, however, to approach any man you know to be a Mason to seek further information about the Craft.

Membership is for men , 21 years of age or older, who meet the qualifications and standards of good character and reputation, who are of good morals, and who must believe in the existence of a Supreme Being.

A man who wishes to become a Mason must join one of the more than 600 lodges located throughout this Province. A man normally applies to a Lodge in or close to the community in which he resides. He must have resided in that community for at least one full year immediately prior to his application. He must be recommended by two members of that Lodge, who are in good standing. He must understand that his character will be investigated. After approval by all the members of that Lodge then, and only then, will he be accepted as an eligible applicant for membership in the fraternity of Freemasonry.
Once invited to appear, he will be initiated into the Lodge according to ancient custom, in a manner identical to all who have gone before.

It is often said that Freemasonry takes good men and tries to make them better. Its doors are open to men who seek harmony with their fellow man, feel the need for self-improvement, and seek to help make the world a better place to live for all.

Feel free to approach any man you know to be a Mason for more information, or contact the Secretary of this Lodge, Birch Cliff Lodge, of Scarborough, Ontario.
